Practice Tests |
Q:
What is the question pool size for each practice test? |
A: |
There are approximately 300 questions available for each practice test. Depending
on your progress, questions of appropriate difficulty are selected and displayed. |
Q:
How accurate are the scores and percentile ranks for the practice tests? |
A: |
The score is computed according to a formula, while the percentile rank is a comparison
of your score against all other users who have taken the practice test. |
Q:
Do you provide detailed explanations for the practice tests? |
A: |
No, because we want the practice tests to be just like the real GRE test, where
you don't receive a detailed explanation sheet after you are done. However, you
can view which questions you got wrong and which you got right, and it is to your
advantage to figure out exactly why you missed a question. If you ABSOLUTELY cannot
figure out why you got a question wrong, contact us and we'll be glad to help. |
Q:
I took a practice test and got several questions wrong, yet I still got a very high
score. How is this possible? |
A: |
On the computer-adaptive GRE, it is possible to get several questions wrong and
still attain a high score. If for example on the math section you get the first
25 question right and then the reamining questions wrong, you'll receive an 800.

Q:
Is there a way to reset the practice questions so they can be done again? |
A: |
The questions for each practice test are drawn from a question pool specific for
that test. There is a very small chance that if you were to retake a test, then
you might see a question that you've already seen, which would both invalidate your
test and invalidate the question because the statistics for that question would
be invalid. Therefore, we do not reset practice tests.

General GRE Questions |
Q:
In order to attend graduate school in the United States, what is the average GRE
score that is required? |
A: |
There is no single score that is required. Different schools have different standards.
For example, a GRE verbal score of 650 might be good enough to get a scholarship
at one school, but at nother school, a score of 650 might not even be good enough
for being admitted. Be sure to check with your schools of choice to see what is
the mean GRE scores of the students who are admitted and who decide to come. |

A: |
You cannot reset the practice questions, but you can review all of the questions
that you have seen. From the Practice Questions page, click on the "Review" button
for the section that you want to review, and select from the numbered list the question

Vocabulary Tutor |
Q:
How do I find out which vocabulary words I have mastered? |
A: |
The vocabulary tutor keeps track of the words that you've seen. If you correctly
choose the definition to a vocabulary word, MyGRETutor.com remembers that word.
If you select the "Show Me Words I've Seen But Haven't Mastered" option, you'll
be presented with words that you've gotten right at least 2 days ago or prior. If
you again correctly select the definition to the vocabulary word, that word will
be placed in your mastered list. |
